About
I am a New York-based theater director. I grew up in Michigan between a great lake and an apple orchard. My work has been presented in New York and Chicago by the undergroundzero festval at PS122, HERE Arts Center, Target Margin, Littlefield, The Neo-Futurists, Around the Coyote, and Women in the Director’s Chair. I am a graduate of the University of Chicago and current student in the MFA Directing program at Columbia University where I study with Anne Bogart and Brian Kulick. At Columbia, I’ve directed signal through the flames and Look Away both by John Douglas Weidner, Fever in the Feast by Jenny Lane, Clocked by Steven Gaultney, The Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov and many short original pieces, including Sudden Appearances, Stubborn Returns. My production of The Misanthrope (at PS122) won the audience award at the 2009 undergroundzero festival. In 2007 I had a residency at the University of Chicago Incubator, and have been the grateful recipient of The Schubert Presidential Fellowship, a Richter Grant, a University of Chicago Arts Council Fellowship, and a Metcalf Fellowship. I’ve trained with the SITI Company, interned with the Wooster Group, assisted Tina Landau at Steppenwolf, and worked with Gardzienice in the Polish countryside. Upcoming projects include: Are We Here Yet? July 14-18 at PS122’s Upstairs Venue for the undergroundzero festival; a Chekhov short story project; adapting Robert Altman’s 3 Women. In addition to directing, I also teach writing to Columbia University undergraduates.
